The studio is available immediately for sale or lease. Take a look!! I can honestly say that no one has worked here without falling in love with it.

:D

Guitar / Bass

In addition to production, songwriting and live performance, I have played on many of my productions and excel on the guitar and bass. On the Daniel Rinaldi EP, featured below, I performed and programmed all of the instruments except vocals.

I would love to play on your tracks, so hit me up!

"The Worst Is Over"

The first new release of the recent songs I completed with Daniel Rinaldi. I produced, mixed and mastered the track. He and I wrote it together.

MARCH 2013: AN UPDATE

I should know better than to place a timestamp in the title of this post… it will only bite me in the ass when I don’t update this again for 8 months. “I’ve been really busy since I last updated this site, so I thought I’d try to do a little catch up…

Returning for a few visits in between major motion picture shoots, Abigail Breslin was here to wrap up work on 6 songs that she will be releasing at a date to be determined.

Also returning (for countless visits), Daniel Rinaldi and I wrote and recorded 3 songs which are going to be released imminently. It was exciting to work on a sound quite different from his last EP, but of no less quality. A teaser of the first single:

Michael Grubbs, aka Wakey!Wakey! of One Tree Hill notoriety, came around and worked on writing and demoing a number of new songs - a small fraction of the many he has been working on from which to choose for his next release.

I have continued work on the track for a song called “Worth The Wait” that Trey of The Icarus Account and I penned, which I adore. Hopefully you will all hear it some day soon.

Down in Nashville, Alex Seier and I revisited some oldies that we’ll be giving a country twist to. Breathing new life into an old concept is rarely a fun task, but on this one we are very encouraged.

The studio has been handy for a few tracking sessions for friends of the bucket, including CandyRat Records’ The Reign of Kindo and Steven Padin, as well as Little Bombs, the solo project of Kieren Smith (formerly of Sing It Loud).

I finished the production and mixing for 3 songs with Sandlot Heroes that I helped write. While here they also shot a cover video of "Somebody That I Used To Know.”

Here’s “Escape,” the first release from that session:

A few other songs came out great in sessions with artists who have yet to name their projects and make formal announcements. I will post more here as they debut.

Lastly, I’ve been hoarding musical motifs and parts for an upcoming project I will probably be creating under a different moniker than my actual name. Maybe by mentioning it here the universe will coerce it to manifest.

I am currently interested in writing and producing with artists that have a clear and unique angle. If this is you or someone you know, hit me up.

Love this video by @sandlotheroes for “All in All,” one of my favorite songs we’ve done together.

Between the Fall of 1998 and the Spring of 2001, I wrote 85 articles for the JustArts section of the Brandeis University Justice, our student newspaper, almost all either album reviews or reviews of live performances.  The Justice’s online archives do not go back that far, but I still have copies on my hard drive of each article, pre-editing, and I thought it would be fun to get them online.

All of these are presented unedited and unrevised in the same format in which they were submitted to my editors. I’ve appended, whenever possible, either a song from the album being reviewed or a track from one of the live performers reviewed that was played at that show.  Some of the writing is truly atrocious, but you’ve got to start somewhere, right? Even at its worst, it’s a fun little time capsule of what 1998-2001 looked and sounded like to me, at least a little bit.

I don’t have publication dates for these articles unfortunately, but I do have the date on which each file was submitted, which should be accurate to within a week or so.  (I do have physical copies of each newspaper in which I was published, stashed away in my parents’ basement; at some point I may dig them up and update with the actual publication dates).

Finally, I should note that the vast majority of these reviews were assigned by my editors; my personal listening habits during those years tended, at various times, toward nerd rock and alt.country, among other things.  I also hosted a number of radio shows on our college station, WBRS, over the course of four years, including a reggae show, a country/bluegrass show, a “world” music show (I focused mostly on Africa, though there was some Eastern European traditional music in the mix as well), and a new rock show, and subbed for time to time for everything from a blues show to a traditional Jewish music show. I was immersed in a LOT of music during that time.

Clicking the title will bring you to the Justice Review Archive Index.  There are also links to the index from both the main Makeup For The Silence page (on the sidebar) and the reviews page (at the bottom).

I’ve spent the last two months immersed in this project (and one other that will be revealed in a few days), and it’s been a fun trip through time for me.  Hopefully you’ll enjoy flipping through these decade-plus-old reviews as much as I have!

Reblogging this again for the evening crowd. Just launched a massive project that I’ve been working on over at my music blog.  If you’re at all interested in a weird little time capsule back to 1998-2001, click on through :)
